Now data is flowing from inside our intestines

French company e-Celsius has recently had approved a tablet-sized wireless thermometer that can be used to track the core temperature of sportspeople. This has a lot of applications beyond the obvious safety monitoring of those performing in extreme temperatures. Core temperature is an indicator of your body’s state, whether it’s ready to perform or in need of recovery. Mapping this data will allow coaches and trainers to eke out those vital few extra percent from athletes while improving the protection of their health.

We got to play with one of these devices in the run up to the recent Sports Performance and Technology innovation conference in Manchesterand took it into the 5live studios.
